Case study · Online shop for wood products
Large products, sharp from edge to edge.

Problem
A long board does not fit on an ordinary product table, and in a normal shoot only part of it is sharp while the rest blurs. Yet with wood, customers care about exactly the details: grain, knots, grooves and the cross-section. And a shop full of large photos still has to load fast.
What we did
- Shot in a studio on a white seamless backdrop big enough for long boards
- Studio light and an LED tube give the grooves and grain depth while the background stays pure white
- Camera on a tripod at f/11 and ISO 100: the whole board sharp from edge to edge and free of noise
- Several shots of one product: the whole board, boards side by side, cross-sections and a stack
- Colour and light correction so all photos look like one series
- Originals in top quality for the archive and print, and shop versions at the smallest possible size so pages load fast
Photos from the shoot
The whole board and the wood grain
The whole grooved board on a clean white background and next to it several boards that show off the grain and knots. The whole board is sharp, from the front edge to the far end.
Cross-sections and a stack
The cross-section shows the thickness and groove shape customers ask about with decking boards. The stack shows what the product looks like when ordered in larger quantities.
How we shot it
In the studio on a white seamless backdrop big enough for long boards. Studio light and an LED tube give the grooves depth, and the camera on a tripod at f/11 and ISO 100 keeps the whole board sharp and the photos free of noise.
